2. Science Writer / Editor

  * Organization: Maryland Sea Grant

  * Description: The Science Writer/Editor will work to explain and
    share findings from scientists, extension agents, and other sources
    to help advance public understanding and management of Maryland's
    natural resources. The successful finalist will join Maryland Sea
    Grant's communications staff of 3 to 4 professionals and university
    students who produce print, videos, and web-based content for the
    general public and specialized audiences on topics such as pollution
    reduction, oyster aquaculture, fisheries management, and
    climate-change adaptation. Our publications include an award-winning
    print magazine, Chesapeake Quarterly (www.chesapeakequarterly.net);
    technical syntheses; highly regarded documentaries; and an extensive
    online and social media presence. Duties of this position also
    include editing text, posting to social media, and contributing

3. Information Technology Coordinator

  * Description: Our opening is a great opportunity for someone
    interested in both IT and environmental science. Our IT coordinator
    will do web development in a university setting on a variety of
    projects while providing support for our office's software and
    hardware needs. This job is particularly well suited for someone
    with an interest in the development and application of environmental
    science research and education products to help restore and preserve
    the Chesapeake Bay and Maryland's coastal natural resources. The IT
    Coordinator will implement, administer, and strengthen Maryland Sea
    Grant's use of existing and new information technology to improve
    administration, education, outreach, and staff efficiency. S/he will
    provide leadership in the use and development of software, online
    applications, and other technologies to enhance Maryland Sea Grant's
    mission and online presence (e.g., education modules, program
    administration systems, Drupal-based website). The coordinator will
    be encouraged to network with other IT professionals in university
    departments and institutions to effectively use available resources

4. Turtle Sanctuary Coordinator

  * Location: Juluchuca, Guerrero, Mexico
  * Description: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer
    to help coordinate and manage our sea turtle sanctuary, La Tortuga
    Viva. La Tortuga Viva is a sea turtle sanctuary in Juluchuca,
    Guerrero, on Mexico's Pacific coast and operates through the support
    of the sustainable boutique hotel, Playa Viva, and 14 volunteers
    from the local community. The sanctuary coordinator is a
    multifaceted role, involving community engagement, education,
    management, and scientific data collection and analysis. S/he will
    work under the guidance of and report to Playa Viva's Social and
    Environmental Impact Officer. S/he will assist/oversee conservation
    work (e.g. attending nightly patrols), collect, collate, and analyze
    data, organize sanctuary visits and hatchling releases (for hotel
    guests), build the capacity of local turtle volunteers, organize and
    lead educational presentations in the community and for hotel
    guests, write quarterly reports, build relationships with local
    conservation actors, and engage in fundraising and social media.
    Ideal candidate will have a (minimum) B.S. in marine
    biology/ecology, natural resource management or a related
    field, experience working in sea turtle conservation, fluency in
    Spanish, strong interpersonal communication skills, experience
    working in developing country contexts and working with small, rural
    communities. This is a great opportunity for a young professional
    looking to gain experience in community-based conservation and
    management. We require a commitment of 6 months and you must be
    willing and able to work in a tropical remote environment. In

    accommodation in the neighboring town of Juluchuca with fellow

5. Marine Policy Faculty Member

  * Description: Sea Education Association (SEA) invites applications
    for a full-time 9-month faculty position at the assistant or
    associate professor level in Marine Policy. SEA offers innovative
    undergraduate programs (SEA Semester) which combine marine sciences,

8. Naturalist- Nature Center

  * Description: The Naturalist - Nature Center assists with the daily
    husbandry and care of the Conservancy's wildlife ambassadors and
    educates visitors at the Conservancy Nature Center. This position
    reports to the Animal Care Coordinator and supports the daily care
    of the Conservancy's wildlife ambassador collection including animal
    husbandry; maintenance of LSS (life support systems), aquaria, and
