Chesapeake Bay Sentinel Site Cooperative Coordinator Position Announcement

University of Maryland Sea Grant Extension (UMCP) and Maryland Sea Grant (UMCES) in partnership with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources' Chesapeake and Coastal Service (DNR, CCS), are seeking a qualified candidate for Coordinator of the Chesapeake Bay Sentinel Site Cooperative (CBSSC). This is a new, two-year, Maryland Sea Grant Extension position intended to enhance the Cooperative's ability to engage its partners and key stakeholders in providing information to area communities and resource managers to improve their understanding and response to changing sea levels and coastal flooding. The Chesapeake Bay Sentinel Site Cooperative (CBSSC) uses a place-based approach to bring together experts from the science; resource management; and stewardship sectors to inform management decisions relating to sea level rise and coastal flooding.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in biological sciences; advanced degree in ecology preferred. Minimum 3 years of professional experience or equivalent preferred in working on climate change coastal adaptation including sea level rise and coastal flooding.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, while maintaining focus on the "big picture." Extremely well organized with great attention to detail and proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint

Preferences:

A skilled Scientist/Project Manager/Planner is sought to facilitate the interaction among scientists, resource managers, and communities to promote transfer of climate science -related information to a wide range of users and stakeholders in the region to reduce the impacts of coastal flooding and sea level rise. Candidate will be expected to explore opportunities for connecting CBSSC program partners' activities with efforts to broaden public understanding of community hazard mitigation. This position will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating the Cooperative partners to achieve the goals and milestones as described in the CBSSC Implementation Plan. Additionally, the Coordinator will represent the Cooperative in regional discussions focused on sea level rise and coastal flooding.

Experience with grant writing is preferred.
