1. Doctoral Social Science Researcher in Marine Ecosystem Services
* Organization: The University of Brest

* Description: The University of Brest, the European Institute for
Marine Studies and the Laboratory of Excellence for the Sea announce
a new position for a Ph.D. level social scientist to work on marine
ecosystem services (MES) research. The researcher will support two
major international research efforts and will be part of a growing
team of MES applied research. The candidate will: - Conduct
Ecosystem services research:o Review the state of the art and
provide advice and on-site research for the economic valuation of
ecosystem services at partners sites in the Global Environmental
Facility Blue Forests Projecto Work with the interdisciplinary
research team as part of the H2020 research project "ECOPOTENTIAL"
to develop conceptual and analytical models and analysis that assess
and monitor the provision of ecosystem services in the Caribbean and
Mediterranean Seas using Earth Observation, remote sensing and in
situ data, especially social and economic data.- Work with
Linwood Pendleton, the International Chair in Marine Ecosystem
Services, and his team to: a) write scholarly and popular articles
and presentations, and b) create an expanded, interdisciplinary
vision for the Marine Ecosystem Services Partnership.

* Description: Moss Landing Marine Laboratories (MLML) is seeking
well-qualified applicants for a full-time tenure-track position to
manage library and information services and provide
instruction/expertise in academic technology, applications
development, or institutional outreach/communication. The Library,
housed at MLML, provides library services to both MLML and the
Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI). MLML, a consortium
of seven California State University Campuses and administered by
San José State University, is located on the Monterey Bay. MLML, a
fully equipped marine operations department, is one of the most
active in the nation. MBARI is a private, non-profit research
center located in Moss Landing, CA whose scientists propose and
execute innovative studies, both experimental and theoretical, in
the ocean sciences. The successful candidate must have a strong
commitment to a quality educational experience, providing library
services for students, staff and faculty at MLML and MBARI. An ALA
accredited Master's degree and a minimum of three years' experience
in a Library as faculty or as a professional is required. We also
expect the successful candidate will spend a considerable portion of
their time providing expertise in academic technology, applications
development, and/or institutional outreach and communication in the
form of courses taught and other professional activities. Candidates
with data management expertise at all points of the data life cycle
and a degree in life science or physical science are preferred.
Applicants should have awareness of and sensitivity to educational
goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in
cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable
experience.
