* Description: SeaPlan is an independent nonprofit coastal and ocean
planning, policy, and science group that serves governments,
non-governmental organizations, and private sector clients to
develop practical, effective solutions in the marine realm. Our
current work portfolio focuses on state and regional marine spatial
planning initiatives in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. The Project
Manager (PM) will work primarily on projects related to policy and
regulatory components of coastal and marine planning, while also
intersecting with key related aspects, such as data integration and
stakeholder engagement. Primary responsibilities will center on
research and analysis for topical ocean policy and management
issues; preparation of a range of project deliverables; and project
management, including scoping, budgeting, and coordinating project
teams. The PM will work closely with SeaPlan staff, fellows and
interns, as well as interface with external partners and clients.

to serve as Executive Director. The position is full time and will
be located at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The vision of

6. Marine Assistant
* Organization: The National Park of American Samoa (NPSA)
* Location: American Samoa
* Description: Duties will include poisoning of crown of thorn
starfish (Alamea), tagging and tracking marine fish species,
monitoring marine life and water quality, maintenance and repair of
boats and equipment, data collection and entry into spreadsheets and
databases, and other tasks as assigned by the Marine Ecologist.
SCUBA diving and boat driving are expected to be regular duties but
require passing the National Park Service Blue Card Certification
and Department of Interior Motor Boat Operator Course, respectively.
Applicants with boating and SCUBA diving experience are preferred.
Applicants must be physically fit and able to pass a dive medical
exam, a swim test that includes a 1,200 ft. swim without swim aids
completed within 15 minutes, a 75 ft. underwater swim without swim
aids, a surface dive to 10 ft. to recover an object without swim
aids, and treading water for 10 minutes without swim aids.
Knowledge of natural resource management practices, methods, and
procedures. Knowledge of marine data collection techniques.
Ability to maintain quality control and quality assurance
guidelines. Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and
Access is preferred.

9. Coastal Resilience and Sustainability Fellowship Opportunity
* The Maryland Sea Grant College is now accepting proposals for the
2015 Coastal Resilience and Sustainability Fellows Program. Graduate
students enrolled in or admitted to a full-time graduate or
professional degree program at a Maryland or District of Columbia
academic institution are encouraged to apply.Potential fellows
should propose coastal resilience research that is relevant to
Maryland and the MDSG Strategic Plan 2014-2017. Such research might
include the wise use of water resources, climate change adaptation,
coastal processes studies, resilience from natural hazards,
resilient coastal businesses, and industries including fisheries and
tourism, and other topics. Fellows must also identify an outreach or
end-user mentor to help develop a plan to ensure research results
