3. Program Specialist

  * Organization: US Fish and Wildlife Service's Ecological Services Program
  * Location: Falls Church, VA (our new HQ).
  * Description: About the program. Congress enacted the Coastal Barrier
Resources Act (CBRA; 16 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.) in 1982 and the Act and
its subsequent amendments designated relatively undeveloped coastal
barriers along the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, Great Lakes, U.S.
Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico coasts, as part of the CBRS, and
made these areas ineligible for most new Federal expenditures and
financial assistance. CBRA does not prohibit development, and it
imposes no restrictions on development conducted with non-Federal
funds. The Service maintains the CBRA maps on behalf of the
Secretary of Interior, and the position is part of a 5 person team.
The work is detailed oriented and one has to be able to
multitask- much like a Sea Grant experience. The Ecological
Services Program includes endangered species, the National Wetlands
Inventory and conservation assistance and review. Its a great place
    to work!
