The incumbent serves as Chief of the Ocean and Coastal Resources Branch, 
Water Resources Division.The Branch provides overall leadership and 
coordination of NPS responsibilities, policies and interests in ocean 
resources stewardship in the National Park System, and provides service 
wide leadership to the National Park Service Ocean Park Stewardship 
Action Plan.As such, the Branch coordinates acquisition and application 
of broad-based scientific expertise and technologies to support ocean 
and coastal resource management. The Branch works under the Water 
Resources Division and NRSS Associate Director to coordinate 
Service-wide policies, and provide technical assistance and support to 
divisions within the Natural Resource Stewardship & Science Directorate

International Law Enforcement Analyst in Silver Spring, MD

The Analyst will Develop and maintain, on a global level, knowledge in 
matters related to the capture, processing and trade in living marine 
resources (fisheries). Collect, review, interpret, evaluate, integrate 
and brief the International Program Manager on intelligence information 
from multiple sources, assessing the relevance and significance of 
developments on Living Marine Resource Programs. Decisions, estimates, 
and recommendations are often made under conditions of urgency and 
pressure based upon mature judgment, experience and recognized 
professional standing. The Analyst will be responsible for reviewing 
reports and intelligence products prepared by other agencies for 
technical accuracy and logical interpretation of the information. 
Prepare justification of projects and brief the International Program 
Manager on the purpose and progress of developmental projects. Identify 
intelligence gaps, specify collection requirements to fill gaps, 
evaluate the intelligence collected in response to those requirements. 
Develop analytical tools and methodologies to analyze data and present 
conclusions. Develop and maintain a productive and mutually compatible 
liaison with counterparts in the applicable federal and state government 
and international agencies, and other organizations and officials as 
appropriate. Participate, as appropriate, in inter agency and 
international meetings and conferences. The Analyst must have extensive 
contacts with individuals from relevant intelligence communities at both 
the operating and policy levels. Aspects of Project Management will also 
be utilized to include project planning, budgeting, development and 
implementation.

Assistant Staff Veterinarian, Pacific Marine Mammal Center

Laguna Beach, CA

The Pacific Marine Mammal Center, an equal opportunity, non-profit 
employer, is seeking candidates for a part-time (20 hr/wk) position of 
Assistant Staff Veterinarian reporting to the Medical Director.

The Assistant Veterinarian is responsible for the clinical care of 
marine mammals in rehabilitation; the candidate’s primary focus will be 
clinical practices, secondary focus on the pathology of the marine 
mammals at the center. The successful candidate will also educate and 
inform Animal Care Personal on new information, protocols and 
procedures, cross train animal care personal in the use of medical 
equipment, assist in the development of externship program to provide 
externships to veterinary students and residents and collaborate and 
coordinate research projects, and present case reviews/diagnostic 
reviews at peer reviewed conferences. In addition to clinical care, the 
staff veterinarian must have the knowledge, interest and ability to 
collaborate effectively with researchers, education and other staff members.

Requires:  5 yrs experience in clinical marine mammal veterinary 
medicine/wildlife or zoo medicine or equivalent; knowledge of current 
marine mammal health and disease issues demonstrated through publication 
and presentation record, a doctorate in veterinary medicine (DVM) or 
equivalent and a higher degree (masters, doctorate, or board 
certification; and must be eligible for a California state license to 
practice veterinary medicine. This is a career position and has the 
potential to develop into a full time position after 2 years.
