  Dear colleagues,

I would like to bring your attention to two Postdoctoral positions
available at Imperial College London.

*Post-doctoral Position in Paleoceanography / Isotope Geochemistry*

*Salary Range: £32,100 - £33,820 per annum *

Applications are invited for a Research Associate to join the *MA*ss
Spectrometry and Isotope *G*eochemistry Group at *I*mperial *C*ollege
London (MAGIC) within the Department of Earth Science & Engineering.

The position is available starting 1 January 2013 for a period of up to
32 months. The research project is centred on the use of the radiogenic
isotope composition of fossil deep-sea corals to reconstruct water mass
structure in the Southern Ocean over the past 25,000 years. The project
will involve the development of novel methods and the use of established
procedures for precise isotopic analyses by both TIMS and MC-ICP-MS.

A PhD (or equivalent) in isotope geochemistry, paleoceanography, or a
closely related field is a prerequisite. Good laboratory skills and
experience in isotopic analyses by TIMS (and/or MC-ICP-MS) are highly
desirable.

Our preferred method of application is online via our website (select
"Job Search" and enter the job reference no *EN20120296FH*). Please
complete and upload an application form as directed and submit any other
relevant supporting documents such as your full CV.

Informal inquiries about the position can be made to*Tina van de
Flierdt* (tina.vandeflierdt at imperial.ac.uk
<mailto:tina.vandeflierdt at imperial.ac.uk>).

Should you have any queries regarding the application process please
contact Mrs Darakshan Khan by email to: d.khan at imperial.ac.uk
<mailto:d.khan at imperial.ac.uk>

*Closing date: 15 October 2012.*

/Committed to equality and valuing diversity. We are also an Athena
Silver SWAN Award winner, a Stonewall Diversity Champion and a Two Ticks
Employer./

*Post-doctoral Position in Ocean Tracer Modelling and/or Isotope
Geochemistry*

*Salary Range: £32,100 - £33,820 per annum *

*Fixed term appointment for up to 32 months*

Applications are invited for a Research Associate to join the *MA*ss
Spectrometry and Isotope *G*eochemistry Group at *I*mperial *C*ollege
London (MAGIC) within the Department of Earth Science & Engineering.

The aim of the research is to revisit the neodymium paradox in the
ocean, which describes the observation that Nd concentrations in
seawater show a nutrient-type behaviour, whilst Nd isotopes appear to
display a quasi-conservative behaviour. The project will involve the
completion of an observational data set on seawater and marine
particulates and a significant modelling component. Methods include
established procedures for precise isotopic analyses by both TIMS and
MC-ICP-MS, and tracer modelling approaches such as the Transport Matrix
Method (TMM).

A PhD (or equivalent) in tracer modelling or isotope geochemistry or a
closely related field is a prerequisite. Good laboratory skills and
experience in isotopic analyses by TIMS (and/or MC-ICP-MS) and/or
extensive experience in modelling marine biogeochemical cycles of
tracers for ocean circulation are highly desirable.

Our preferred method of application is online via our website at the
following link (select "Job Search" and enter the job reference no
*EN20120297FH*). Please complete and upload an application form as
directed and submit any other relevant supporting documents such as your
full CV.
