Regional Director, Asia Pacific, Marine Stewardship Council
Singapore

Working languages: English
Deadline for applications: 20 January (interviews to be held in Singapore week beginning 20 February)

With its ‘check fish’, one of the most successful ecolabels in use today, the MSC has established itself on the word stage, and in little more than 10 years has achieved a truly global presence, affecting positive, ecological change in oceans providing certified sustainable seafood in more than 80 countries, across all five continents. Our reach into the Asia Pacific region has been instrumental in this continuing success, with an established presence in Japan and Australia, but our ambitions allow us to recognise how much more we could still achieve and so we are now looking to appoint our first Asia Pacific Director, to help us expand our reach and to lead on the MSC’s strategy and operations in the region.

This new role presents a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic individual to really make a difference to global patterns of wild harvest seafood consumption in Asia and Oceania, driving initiatives forward into mature as well emerging markets. To achieve this, it is expected that the Director will develop dedicated teams to manage engagement with commercial and supply chain partners, client fisheries, eNGOs and other stakeholders throughout the region. The post holder will bring with them substantial commercial experience gained at a senior level, together with a working knowledge of supply chains. Empathy for the role of market-based eco-labelling programmes is essential.
