ISSHA AWARDS 2008: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Current members of ISSHA are invited to submit nominations for the
following awards:
The Yasumoto Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is offered in recognition of a long and outstanding record
of contribution to harmful algal research by an ISSHA member (see the
membership list at: http://www.issha.org/). Previous recipients: Dr.
T. Yasumoto (2000), Dr. G.R. Hasle (2002), Dr. T. Smayda (2002) and
Dr. D.M. Anderson (2006).
The Young Scientist Achievement Award
This award is offered in recognition of outstanding achievement in
any aspect of harmful algal research by a scientist early in their
career (i.e. within ten years of receiving their PhD). The award is
intended for an exceptional or "break-through" contribution to an
area of harmful alga research, rather than a cumulative record of
achievement. The nominee should be an ISSHA member (see the
membership list at: http://www.issha.org/). Previous recipient: Dr.
C. Scholin (2002).
Any ISSHA member in good standing may submit nominations for either
achievement award, which should include a description of the
nominee's contribution (not more than one page). Nominations should
be sent by e-mail to Marina Montresor (mmontr at szn.it), Chair of the
Committee on Achievement Awards, to be received before June 1st 2008.
Please write 'ISSHA Award' in the message subject. Nominations will
be considered by the ISSHA Council, and eventual awards will be
presented at the XIII HAB Conference in Hong Kong, 3-7 November 2008.
