[ISSHA] Announcement of IOC HAB Training Courses

ANNOUNCEMENT:
1. Curso COI-AECI-IEO sobre Fitoplancton Toxico y Biotoxinas Marinas
The course will be held in Vigo, Spain, in February 2007 (3 weeks) organised by the "COI-IEO Centro Cientifico y de Comunicacion sobre Algas Nocivas". The course is funded by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO, the Agencia Española de Cooperacion Internacional (AECI) and the Instituto Español de Oceanografia (IEO). 
The focus will be on "Monitoring programmes on Toxic Phytoplankton and Marine Phycotoxins according to European Regulations", and has been designed for experts who have to initiate or strengthen their national or regional monitoring programme on Harmful Marine Algae. It will have a general section on monitoring programmes and two specific workshops to be chosen by the participants: "Taxonomy and Ecology" or "Detemination of Marine Biotoxins"
The Course is open to applicants from Latin America and Africa. The course is taught in SPANISH.
 
2. IOC/IOCINDIO-ROPME Training Course on the Taxonomy of Harmful Microalgae
 
The course will be held at INCO, Iran, 22-31 January 2006 and is organized in cooperation between the IOC Science and Communication Centre on Harmful Algae, Copenhagen, and the Iranian National Centre for Oceanography.
 
The training course will focus on identification and taxonomy of harmful algae, and it is aimed at participants who have some experience with identification of marine phytoplankton, but not necessarily with harmful algae. 
 
The Course is open to applicants from Member States bordering the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman (Bahrain, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates). The course is taught in English.
