Dear ISSHA Members,
I am assisting the BBC (UK) to look for footage (film or video) of HABs
for use in a documentary on ballast waters, HAB and related issues.
This is a welcome chance to focus on HAB in a relevant context.
In particular we are looking for the following footage:
* Aerial shots of the HABs. Shot from a plane to give an idea of
scale and colour etc.
* Close up shots of the algal blooms e.g. close shots filmed from
the coast or a boat.
* Microscopic shots to show what the phytoplankton looks like on a
cellular level.
* Any footage that illustrates the effects and impacts of HABs.
E.g. any environmental damage to humans, flora, fauna and habitats.
* Any footage of shellfish/marine animals that have been harmed by
algal blooms.
* Any footage of mass mortalities of crabs, lobsters and shellfish
etc.
Equally if there is HAB footage that you have that does not cover the
above I would be very interested to find out more.
In addition, if you could email me any suggestions for additional
contacts that might have any other HAB footage that would be great.
Maybe this was in general a thing for ISSHA to compile and thereby be
able to serve the media when needed? (ISSHA to keep material or just
meta data on what exists and where)
If you have material or relevant information on footage please contact
me or BBC directly
Many thanks for your assistance in this matter.
