The Global Ecology and Oceanography of Harmful Algal Blooms (GEOHAB) programme has recently completed its series of four focused open science meetings.
Development of GEOHAB Core Research Projects will continue with GEOHAB subcommittee meetings designed to begin implementing the plans developed at the open science meetings.
The first subcommittee meeting, for the Core Research Project on HABs in Upwelling Systems, will be held in mid-January 2006.
The subcommittee is seeking input for the meeting, particularly indications of interest from national, regional, and international projects conducting research related to the eight key questions described in the research plan for this Core Research Project (see http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0013/001391/139115e.pdf).
The subcommittee will use this input to suggest how existing research, complemented by new research, can be used to address the eight key questions of this Core Research Project and will propose and plan for framework activities which will benefit the involved national, regional, and international research projects.
Please contact Grant Pitcher (Gpitcher at deat.gov.za) with information about projects relevant to the GEOHAB Core Research Project on HABs in Upwelling Systems."
Best regards,
Henrik
