[Flex] Upcoming 2/15/14 NSF Panel Deadline

As you know, the February 15, 2014 is upon us. This year, the deadline falls on a Saturday which means the deadline would fall on the next business day or Monday, February 17th. However, since the 17th is President's Day, the deadline is February 18th.  Please make every effort to get them in sooner rather than later. While we have been hitting the submit button after 5 pm, some agencies (not sure where NSF stands) are now deciding they will return proposals un-reviewed if they are submitted after the 5 pm deadline.

Regarding delivery guidelines, Steve Senior is resurrecting the "Urgent Shuttle" beginning on the 10th and ending on the 17th or until proposal season is over. His group will make 3 runs a day beginning at 9:00 am, 12:30 pm & 2:30 pm. I encourage you to take advantage of this option. Any proposals that miss the last shuttle run of the day will be brought to GCS the next morning. Please use the red envelopes and be sure to mark it with "Proposal - immediate delivery requested" or some such identifier so they can ensure timely delivery.

One final note is if the proposal is $250,000 or more, the green sheet requires DoR signoff before I can submit. However, I need to review the paper copy before Larry or those covering in his absence will review and signoff. Please keep this in mind when timing your submission. According to Ellen Bailey, Larry will be out of the office from Noon on the 13th until after 2:30 on the 18th which means one of the alternates will review and sign.

Please take this information into account when speaking with your PIs. Finally, please remember that there will, in all likelihood, be proposals to other agencies as well. I will review proposals in the order in which I receive them (taking into account, of course, their deadline).
