Hello,
Can you tell me if your department has one or two people (or
more) who are entering new information on new p.i.'s -
within the Organizational Management portion of Fastlane, as
well as the Edit the P.I. Information, as needed.
We recently appointed several Guest Investigators, and one
new Associate Scientist - all who had to be entered into
NSF's database.
Do you think it would be useful to include detailed
instructions within the guidelines we are compiling for the
Fastlane Cookbook web page? The Fastlane Cookbook already
has the information available below, but since the
departments are now inputting data that Claire did
previously - do you think the additional instructions would
be helpful?
From the Fastlane Cookbook:
There are five basic steps to submitting a proposal using
Fastlane.
1.Check to see that the PI(s) have been entered into the
FastLane system; confirm that all of their contact and
affiliation information is correct.
2.Collect all the pieces of the proposal in electronic
format.
3.Convert the pieces of the proposal into .pdf files.
4.Upload these .pdf files into NSF's Fastlane program
over the Web; fill in Web forms for the Cover Sheet and
Budget.
5.Print the proposal; review; submit electronically to
the SRO (our Grants and Contracts office); route the paper
copy of proposal with greensheet and
WHOI budget for signatures as per usual.
Step One: Confirm that your PIs are in the FastLane system
and review their information. In particular, be sure to
check new scientists. To do this, choose "Proposal
Preparation" from the "PI & co-PI Functions" list. Enter the
information required on the next screen. You will then see a
screen of PI information. If you find an error in this
information, press the "Edit Information" button. Make the
necessary changes and press the "OK" button. If you find
that a PI is not in the system, contact Claire Reid at x2254
with the scientist's name, employee number, social security
number, and extension.
Finally, I have found that the information for co-pi's can
be reviewed by entering their social security #'s, password,
etc. instead of the first p.i. Do you know if there is a
quicker way to review the co-pi's?
Thanks! Jane
