[Data-Mongers] do you use ESRI ArcGIS products?

Dear Data-Mongers,
This is a follow-up to an email I sent last year re: GIS software users
in our local community.
I just received an email from the organizers of Esri's upcoming Ocean
GIS Forum in November.
The deadline for the early/discounted registration is this Fri., 10/3:
http://www.esri.com/events/oceans
Also, I am still interested in hearing from WHOI staff and students, in
particular, with regard to either (or both) Esri or open source GIS
software. For example, should WHOI consider a site license for Esri
ArcGIS? should WHOI consider training on-site for open source GIS? would
you be able to do new or improved analyses in your research if you had
access to software or training?
Thanks, best,
Stace
