About the speaker:
Albert (Sandy) Williams received his AB in Physics from Swarthmore College in 1962 and his Ph.D. in physics from Johns Hopkins University in 1969. He spent his entire career at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, becoming Scientist Emeritus in 2002. A Fellow of IEEE, he received the Distinguished Technical Achievement Award of the IEEE/Oceanic Engineering Society in 2000 and is presently VP Technical Activities for OES. He went to Antarctica in 2001, 2004, and 2006; twice for XBT, CTD, and ADCP surveys across the Drake Passage and in the Bransfield Strait, and twice for scuba diving for salps. In October 2011 he took a cruise with his wife and many WHOI connected people to South Georgia where wildlife were viewed in this nearly uninhabited sub Antarctic island.

The Monday Lunch talks are held every other Monday. We have created a wiki page for these and other Informatics events in Woods Hole. Please consider giving a talk, we have lot's of openings in 2012! Let us know if you about any informatics related event and we will add it to this page. Those of you who haven't subscribed to the Informatics discussion list, you might want to. Information on how to subscribe is on the wiki page above.

See you there!
