Title: "The Cell Image Library"

Summary:

The Cell: An Image Library™ (www.cellimagelibrary.org) is a freely accessible, public repository of reviewed and annotated images, videos, and animations of cells from a variety of organisms, showcasing cell architecture, intracellular functionalities, and both normal and abnormal processes. The purpose of this database is to advance research, education, and training, with the ultimate goal of improving human health.   John will discuss the workflow and major components of the Library.

Speaker Bio:
John Hufnagle is a scientific informatics developer with the Center for Library and Informatics.  This is John's first project in the scientific software domain.  He has previously worked as a developer in commercial, financial, educational and manufacturing companies including: Computer Associates Corp., Omgeo-Thompson Financial Corp., Soliloquy Learning Corp, and Marcam Corp.

The Monday Lunch talks are held every other Monday. We have created a wiki page for these and other Informatics events in Woods Hole. Please consider giving a talk, we have lot's of openings in 2011!
