SEMINAR for DATA MANAGERS

The Woods Hole Data Mongers group is sponsoring a one hour seminar by 
Adam Shepherd (WHOI/CIS) entitled "Web Services - a good choice for 
sharing ocean science data". Adam will begin with a brief overview of 
Web services and then describe the requirements for implementing 
XML/SOAP based Web services to enable system-to-system interoperability 
for oceanographic data.  Anyone working with marine science data in 
Woods Hole or Falmouth is invited.

Some topics to be covered in the seminar:
     * how data has been/is being shared
     * what can web services offer to new/existing data systems
     * drawbacks and current shortcomings
     * requirements for using web services
     * growth potential
     * question and answer and followup discussion
