[All-postdocs] Bioseminar (Carriage House) - Joe Futrelle

Hi all,

This seminar was organized in response to a request raised during my meeting with Biology technical staff last month.  It is intended to provide a casual, collegial setting for department members to gain a better understanding of AI applications from our IS expert Joe Futrelle , while enjoying some pizza during the session.

Please note that the seminar will take place in the Carriage House, and need to end promptly at 1pm as the room is reserved for another meeting after the seminar.  The session will be recorded for folks who won’t be able to join (including myself due to a conflicting workshop).

Large Language Models: Use Cases, Risks, and Best Practices
Large Language Models are transforming the nature of work and promising major advances in almost all fields of inquiry. From flagship applications like AI chatbots (e.g., ChatGPT) to specialized use cases such as genomics, language models can match or outperform humans on many language tasks. This informal discussion will cover how they work, what they do, what they can be used for, what risks are associated with their use, and how to interact with LLM-based tools such as AI chatbots effectively and responsibly.

There will be pizza! (plus, the usual coffee and cookies)
