Using Acoustics In Marine Mammal Research
Underwater acoustic systems, both active and passive, can contribute to fill key knowledge gaps in marine mammal research. Passive acoustic monitoring offers valuable insights into the ecology, population dynamics, and behavioral patterns of vocally active marine mammals, informing effective management and conservation strategies. Meanwhile, active acoustics is an efficient way to collect data on marine mammal presence and monitor their biological activities. In this presentation, Héloïse will detail the instrumentation and methodologies she employs to investigate the behavior and movements of marine mammals.
