Hello my sweet confectionary postdocs!

 

It is my great pleasure to invite you to the GREAT WHOI BAKE OFF happening on December 4th.

 

The GREAT WHOI BAKE OFF will be a team-based baking competition a la the Great British Bake Off. Teams of up to five will create one showstopper bake, that will be judged on its taste, presentation, and ambition, on a theme that will be announced one week prior
 to the event. The teams will also complete a “technical challenge”, where their baking skills will be put to the test with a recipe they’ve never seen before!

 

At 10am on Sunday December 4th, each of the teams will receive a basket with the ingredients and instructions for the technical.
 Each team will get to baking (without looking anything up!) and will present their technical and their showstopper to the judges at the Bakeoff Showcase in Clark 5, at 4pm that day. There, everyone
 will be able to taste one another’s confections and vote on your favorites with the winner taking home the grand prize! All skill levels are welcome. This is just a fun teambuilding event and to bake some crazy treats. Any failures along the way only to push
 us to be better bakers!

 

Each team will be given a sum of money (~$35) with which they will be asked to buy all of their ingredients. This is to make sure the competition is equitable (people who spend more shouldn’t be given a leg up) and to force people to not spend money on this
 silly competition hahaha.

 up here for the Great WHOI Bake Off! And if you don’t want to bake, you should at least join us for the Bakeoff Showcase at 4:00pm in Clark 5, Sunday
 December 4thto help us enjoy everyone’s sweet treats!
