The Effect of Live-Coral Loss on Great Barrier Reef Fish Stocks
Ocean warming has contributed to increased rates of coral bleaching and the loss of live coral.  The effect of this live-coral loss on reef-fish stocks remains uncertain.  Here, we modify a model of the dynamics of Great Barrier Reef fish stocks to explicitly incorporate the effect of live-coral area.  The results suggest that some stocks are negatively affected by live-coral loss.  The impact of continuing loss on the maximum sustainable yield of these stocks is explored.
