[All-postdocs] Fwd: Year Round Room Available for Rent April 1

Hi fellow postdocs,

I am the tenant moving out and I do not recommend interacting with this
landlord. They do not have a real estate license and have not demonstrated
professional behavior. *Landlord agreed to March being my last month
(already paid), then tried to get one more month of rent out of me.* I
refused to give in to a behavior I thought was greedy, and since then have
experienced hostile behavior at my workplace from this individual.

I attach the screenshots of this conversation for transparency. I believe
that tenants (particularly in precarious situations such as postdocs moving
in from remote places) should have ample information to assess for
themselves the type of landlords they'd like to interact with. Take from
this what you will - I learned that I prefer to interact with licensed
property managers for accountability and professionalism. Since we have
such high turnover, I hope that this information might be helpful to
someone at some point.

backstory: landlord decided to terminate our 1-year lease due to lack of
fit (reasonable) by strong-arming me verbally saying they consulted lawyers
and can do this if they want (unreasonable), and encouraged me to find a
new place soon, which I happily did.

Hi JP and Post Docs,



Sorry to spam again about rooms, but we have just had another room open up
in our house and we are looking to welcome a new housemate!



We are currently looking for a new housemate starting April 1 with a year
round lease. This is a 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom house with WHOI JP
students/Post docs/Engineers. The house is located on Sippewissett Rd and
is close to the beach (1 mile), bike path (~500 ft away, located at mile
5), Falmouth (5 min drive) and Woods Hole (10 min drive). The rental is for
1 bedroom in a house share. This bedroom is quite large and has space to
make it your own personal living space with a sofa/table/desk, etc. The
common spaces include a bathroom, living room, kitchen, dining room. There
is an in-house washer/dryer, basement, parking space, and yard with a
garden, BBQ, and firepit. Newly finished hardwood floors, modern furniture,
and updated kitchen. There is air conditioning (we have never had summer
mold, knock on wood!), and the house is run on Solar Power. Sorry, no pets
or drugs welcomed.



Please let me know if you or anyone you know is interested. I can provide
photos and/or a video tour. We are looking for another young professional
that is excited to live in a communal environment.
