Hi all,

Falmouth Public Schools are looking for more volunteer tutors, especially in math and science, for the upcoming school year so I figured I would reach out to all of you to see if anyone was interested. Falmouth has an impressive volunteer program that is very well run and I have found it very rewarding to work with the students there. If you volunteer to tutor, you’ll likely be matched with one student for the whole year, although I think they sometimes put small groups of students together, and you’ll meet with them for ~30 minutes, once per week so it’s a low time commitment. Last year was all virtual, I think this year it may be up to you and your student whether you want to meet virtually or in person. You can find out more information about the tutoring program on their website: https://www.falmouthvips.org/ You can sign up to be a tutor on the website or email them directly: vips at falmouth.k12.ma.us<mailto:vips at falmouth.k12.ma.us>

Also, one of the programs I am involved with is a college mentor programing<https://www.falmouthvips.org/college-mentoring-program.html> where high-achieving, low-income seniors are matched with mentors to help them through the college application process, help them apply for scholarships etc. As a mentor, you’re expected to meet with your student on a regular basis, as well as attend a couple of college visits, attend college planning nights etc. They’ve had a late student addition to the program and are looking for one more, female mentor to join ASAP to help this student. I actually know the student from tutoring her last year and she is a lovely and fun person to work with. If you are interested, please let me know and I can put you in touch with the director of the program.

Certainly happy to try to answer any questions that you might have!

Cheers,
Nina
