The Roxbury Film Festival isn’t the only way to catch the latest and greatest independent movie this weekend. ArtsFalmouth’s

Woods Hole Trad Stroll is virtual this year.

Falmouth Community Television will show the concerts and talks grouped in approximately three-hour sessions, every Saturday at beginning at 7 PM and repeat them beginning at 3 PM on Sunday from June 12 through July 11. The videos will also be shown on Youtube and Facebook. Following their premiere showings, the videos will be available on ArtsFalmouth’s YouTube channel.

The Sonnay Fiddlers perform at 8 PM on June 19. Led by their teacher, Nikki Engstrom, the Sonnay Fiddlers, ages 5 and up, perform a large repertoire of Celtic tunes. Sonnay stands for Students of Nikki, Not All Young, a nod to the adults in the group. The Sonnay Fiddlers performed on Falmouth Community Television’s side lawn.

This show premieres at 8 PM on Falmouth Community Television (Channel 13) and Youtube on Saturday, June 19, and will be repeated on FCTV at 3 PM on Sunday, June 20. The Falmouth Art Center is collaborating with the Falmouth Public Schools and the Falmouth No Place for Hate Committee this month on a Juneteenth poster contest. The posters will be on view at the Art Center through June 30.

Students whose work is in the exhibit range from 4th graders to seniors.

Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19 and commemorates the emancipation of African Americans who had been enslaved. It was first celebrated in 1865 in Texas because of the announcement on June 19 that year of the end of slavery by a general in the Union Army.

The following are the winners of the contest whose posters are on display at the art center: Rosalie Neville, grade 5; Sadie Oliveira, grade 4; Annalisse Rogers, grade 5; Olivia Finn, grade 7; Hannah Guay, grade 8; Laila Cliff, grade 8; Ella Ahern, grade 11; Drea Perez, grade 11; and Alex Syintsakos, grade 10.

The Falmouth Art Center is at 137 Gifford Street. Hours are Mondays through Fridays, 9 AM to 4 PM, Saturdays 10 AM to 2 PM and Sundays 1 to 4 PM.

Flying Horses Carousel:

The Flying Houses Carousel is the nation’s oldest platform carousel. Since 1884, the Flying Horses Carousel has delighted visitors in the town of Oak Bluffs.

Constructed by Charles Dare of New York Carousel Manufacturing in 1876, it is one of only two Dare carousels that still exist. Originally operated as an attraction on Coney Island, it was moved to Oak Bluffs in 1884 and includes stationary carved wooden horses with manes and tails of real horse hair and inset glass eyes. Each horse is brightly painted and fixed to the rotating platform by a metal post.
