Hello WHOI JP students and postdocs,

Ever find yourself wondering whether you should add a co-author who
collected seawater for you to the publication you are working on?
Interested in how to handle errors in published papers? Seeking guidance on
how to quality control and report your data in an ethically responsible
manner?

Please come to our WHOI Ethics and Everyday Best Practices for Ocean
Sciences workshop to learn how to address these and other concerns! We plan
to bring in senior ocean scientists to discuss their approaches to these
moral dilemmas, which isn't always obvious to junior scientists. There will
be opportunities for questions and guided activities to reinforce best
practice strategies.

These situations are bound to come up at some point in our careers and we
can empower ourselves with wisdom from veterans. Unfortunately these events
haven't been widely attended at WHOI in the past and we hope to improve
that. Food will probably be available so you should COME!

We're trying to nail down a good time to have this workshop. Let us know
below what month/time works best for you, we also welcome any topics and
suggestions!

Natalie and Becca
