    Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series
    <https://www.facebook.com/events/1735002293456849>

Boston is a great place for free outdoor fitness classes in the summer
months, thanks to a partnership between the Boston Public Health
Commission, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and the Boston
Parks and Recreation Department, which offer 26 free classes each week
<http://www.bphc.org/whatwedo/healthy-eating-active-living/Boston-Moves-For-Health/Pages/Summer-Fitness-Series.aspx>
from June 3 to to August 31 in Boston’s parks. To celebrate the launch
of the summer series, the organizations will throw a kickoff party in
Copley Square on Thursday, featuring a Zumba class, line dancing, free
water bottles, T-shirts, and more. /(Thursday, June 1 from 5 p.m to 7:30
p.m.; Copley Square

/Mamma Mia!/ at the Boston Opera House
<http://www.ticketmaster.com/Boston-Opera-House-tickets-Boston/venue/8835>

After extended stops in Boston by the national tours of /Rent/
<https://www.boston.com/culture/entertainment/2017/04/12/rent-is-back-in-boston-and-its-a-homecoming-for-this-local-actress>
and /Annie/
<https://www.boston.com/culture/arts/2017/05/13/how-two-young-sisters-from-franklin-landed-roles-in-the-national-tour-of-annie>,
Bostonians may expect that every major Broadway show will have an
extended stay in this city. That’s not the case for /Mamma Mia!/, the
musical inspired by Swedish supergroup ABBA, which will only be at the
Boston Opera House
<http://boston.operahouseboxoffice.com/Events.php?search_text=Mamma+Mia+Boston+Opera+House&gclid=CL2T_fbhmtQCFcxLDQodfY0G7A>
until Sunday. Don’t worry about whether your own rendition of “Dancing
Queen” will drown out the performers, either—singing and dancing by the
audience is encouraged during this show. /(Thursday, June 1 to Sunday,

    BeerAdvocate Microbrew Invitational
    <https://www.beeradvocate.com/micro/>

Before craft beer became a multibillion-dollar industry ($23.5 billion
<http://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/food-dining/2017/05/30/growth-competition-and-challenges-state-craft-beer-today/SMNcTOmN7MEHzYwZUcWcRP/story.html>
in the U.S. alone), there were microbrews: small-batch beers whipped up
by curious hopheads in garages and basements around the world. Beer
review site BeerAdvocate <https://www.beeradvocate.com/> shines a light
on the little guys with its annual Microbrew Invitational
<https://www.beeradvocate.com/micro/tickets/>, which will take place
at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center this weekend. Around 70
microbreweries will pour more than 250 varieties of beer, cider,
kombucha, mead, and sake during three different sessions, many of which
will feature beverages never sold in stores before. /(Friday, June 2
from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 3 from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
and 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center

    /Donnie Darko/ at the Brattle
    <http://www.brattlefilm.org/2017/06/02/donnie-darko-3/#tickets>

Back in 2001, /Donnie Darko/ was a hit at the Sundance Film Festival,
but its dark subject matter and subsequent release in the wake of the
Sept. 11 attacks initially turned it into a box office dud. Thanks to a
strong word-of-mouth campaign, the film eventually blossomed into a cult
classic
<http://www.empireonline.com/movies/features/50-greatest-american-indies/>,
earning accolades for lead Jake Gyllenhaal and big VHS sales for
director Richard Kelly’s alternate cut, and inspiring many high
schoolers to scour the internet for plot theories. The Brattle Theatre
<http://www.brattlefilm.org/2017/06/02/donnie-darko-3/#tickets> was one
of the few theaters in America that screened /Donnie Darko/ during its
initial nationwide release, and it’s bringing the film back for a
weeklong run starting Friday night. /(Friday, June 2 to Thursday, June 7
from 9:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.; Brattle Theatre

    Free Yoga and Pilates at Rose Kennedy Greenway
    <https://www.facebook.com/events/456843181374568/>

If you miss the kickoff of the Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series on
Thursday, fear not. On Saturday, North End Yoga will host its annual
Summer in the City event at the portion of the Rose Kennedy Greenway
bordering the intersection
<https://www.google.com/maps/place/Salem+St,+Boston,+MA+02113/@42.3637991,-71.0564511,18z/data=%214m5%213m4%211s0x89e370894e8643fd:0x4b029fc5aecc46c5%218m2%213d42.3650239%214d-71.0554801>
of Cross Street and Salem Street. The morning will start with a Pilates
fusion workout and finish with a vinyasa flow class. While both classes
are free, organizers recommend reserving a spot
<http://www.northendyoga.com/events.html> on their website. /(Saturday,
June 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Rose Kennedy Greenway

    Free Admission to New England’s Historic Estates
    <https://www.historicnewengland.org/tour-historic-new-england-museums-for-free-during-open-house/>

New England is full of incredible historic properties, each with its own
exquisite architecture and fascinating backstory that dates back
hundreds of years. On Saturday, 33 of the 37 mansions owned by Historic
New England will waive their admission fees, including 18 in
Massachusetts. Highlights include the Otis House
<https://www.historicnewengland.org/property/otis-house/> (1796), the
last remaining mansion from Boston’s razed West End neighborhood, and
the Codman Estate
<https://www.historicnewengland.org/property/codman-estate/> (c. 1740)
in Lincoln, home to five generations of the influential Codman family

    National Trails Day at the Neponset River Greenway
    <http://activities.outdoors.org/search/index.cfm/action/details/id/97737>

Saturday is American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day, and the
Appalachian Mountain Club will mark the occasion by hosting a 7.5-mile
hike along the newly renovated Neponset River Greenway. Drive to the
Haslett Street entrance of Pope John Paul II Park in Dorchester before
9:30 a.m., when guides will head out along the trail toward Hutchinson
Field in Milton. Keep an eye out for the Mattapan High Speed Rail, which
runs alongside the river, as well. /(Saturday, June 3 from 9:30 a.m. to

    Yoga Hike at Middlesex Fells Reservation
    <http://www.backcountryyoga.com/events/2017/6/4/yoga-hike-middlesex-fells>

Another one of the Boston area’s underrated hiking spots is the
Middlesex Fells Reservation, which offers 2,575 acres of unspoiled
trails only a short drive outside the city. Backcountry Yoga will head
into the woods Sunday with a short hike followed by a tranquil yoga
session. /(Sunday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.; Middlesex Fells
