Last chance to sign up to participate in the September/October Faculty Job
Application Writing Workshop! The workshop is open to all local postdocs
and JP students (WHOI, USGS, MBL, WHRC, etc.) and will be especially useful
to those planning to submit job applications this Fall.
The workshop will meet on Thursdays at lunchtime (12-1:30pm) for a five
week series:
Week 0: Sept 14 -- Panel on Faculty Job Applications
Week 1: Sept 21 -- Workshop your Research Statement
Week 2: Sept 28 -- Workshop your Teaching Statement
Week 3: Oct. 5 -- Workshop your Cover Letter
Week 4: Oct. 12 -- Workshop your CV
If you have not yet signed up, but would like to join the workshop,
please *sign
up here <https://goo.gl/forms/gBHl7ZWyLQiwUwVn1> by Friday September 1* so
that you can be assigned to a group of 3-4 people with similar application
goals for workshopping your materials in weeks 1-4.
A note on scheduling: Your fellow group members will be relying on your
participation so they can have a positive and productive experience with
this workshop, so signing up for a group does constitute a commitment to
participate. I know that some people will have conflicts (missing a week
for field work or a conference, or for a personal or religious conflict,
e.g. Week 1 falls on Rosh Hashanah) and that does not preclude your
participation. However, please only sign up if you intend to follow
through, and please let me know about conflicts with any particular weeks
so I can take that into account in forming groups. You are also welcome to
attend just for the panel in Week 0 even if you don't have the time to
commit to a workshopping group for Weeks 1-4.
Thanks!
Hilary
