Jeff is a professor at McGill University who studies land-cover change,
forest connectivity, and lake carbon content. He likes trying to answer
impossibly large environmental questions across large areas using a wide
variety of approaches, including simulation modeling, remote sensing, GIS,
and cutting-edge techniques in computer science. As a teacher, he has
taught GIS at McGill for several years and before that, simultaneously
taught in French and tried to learn French at the Université de Montréal.
He's a strong supporter of Google Earth Engine and has been working on
porting one of the algorithms he has developed to Earth Engine, its image
