Subject: Postdoc position, University of Tennessee - microbial
geochemistry and geomicrobiology
Hi everyone -
The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, University of
Tennessee at Knoxville, invites applications for a postdoctoral
research associate to fill a position in microbial geochemistry and
geomicrobiology. The candidate will join a large, multi-institutional
team within the Coastal Waters Consortium, funded by the Gulf of
Mexico Research Initiative. The current research focuses on dynamic
biogeochemical and ecological impacts of disturbances, including oil
contamination, to coastal marsh and other marine ecosystems. Candidate
will be responsible for field and laboratory research combining
aqueous, organic, and stable isotope geochemistry with environmental
microbiology and ?omics techniques. Additional duties include helping
undergraduate students conduct independent research projects, and
presenting and publishing research results. Requirements: Ph.D. in
microbiology, geology, chemistry, or relevant field is required.
Potential applicants can have broad interest and demonstrated
expertise in non-marine ecosystems. Preference will be given to
applicants (1) with demonstrated expertise in microbiology,
geochemistry, ?omics, or computational skills, (2) who have research
productivity in the form of scientific publications and funding
experience, and (3) who are willing to travel regularly for field
work. The candidate should have excellent oral and written English
language communications skills. The position will be open until
filled. Email Annette Engel (aengel1 at utk.edu) if there are questions.
