Jonathan Lilly (of NorthWest Research Associates) will be visiting WHOI
in January, and has agreed to do a workshop on his oceanographic data
analysis toolbox for Matlab, JLAB. The workshop will be in Carriage
House on Wednesday January 7th from 10am to noon. Snacks and
refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to crichards at whoi.edu so we
know how many people to expect.

Practical Oceanographic Data Analysis in Matlab using JLAB.

Date: Wednesday January 7 10am-Noon.
Location: Carriage House

This tutorial will present a tour through a large package of
freely-distributed Matlab functions called JLAB, available at
http://www.jmlilly.net/jmlsoft.html. This package combines many
routines for basic and advanced analysis methods of large datasets,
tailored to the needs of oceanography, together with four major
oceanographic datasets in conveniently organized mat-files. Statistical
and time series analysis of Lagrangian data, mooring data, and
alongtrack altimeter data will be presented, as will be the mapping of
scattered data. The tutorial will be interactive, with opportunity for
ongoing questions, answers, and open discussion. Participants are
encouraged bring their laptops, with JLAB installed, to follow the
tutorial in real time.
