Estuarine Modeler

Position description: We seek applicants for a post-doctoral researcher 
in estuarine circulation and pathogen modeling. This research position 
is NSF-funded, and the successful candidate will join a team of 
researchers from Maine and New Hampshire working on a multi-year, 
large-scale project. The successful candidate is expected to develop and 
implement estuarine-coastal models to investigate the interaction 
between estuarine conditions and bacterial pollution as part of the New 
England Sustainability Consortium's Safe Beaches and Shellfish Project 
under the advisement of Drs. Damian C. Brady and Huijie Xue. Candidates 
will be expected to work in interdisciplinary teams to explore the 
environmental, social, and economic implications of changing water 
quality. The position will afford the successful candidate numerous 
professional development opportunities, including publishing journal 
articles with colleagues, training and experience writing grant 
proposals, networking and p!
  resenting work at professional conferences, and training and 
experience mentoring students. Consistent with the University of Maine's 
Land and Sea Grant Mission, the successful candidate will participate in 
undergraduate and graduate education and will also interact with 
regional stakeholders (industry, government agency staff, non-government 
organizations). Excellent opportunities exist for collaboration with 
various other regional academic institutions, companies, and agencies. 
Initial appointment will be for one year, with reappointment for another 
year contingent upon performance.
