<div><font color="#000000">The Harmful Algal Bloom and Hypoxia
Research and Control Act (HABHRCA), as amended in 2004, mandated a
report on HAB Prediction and Response. The draft report,
entitled</font><font color="#0000FF"><u><i> A National Assessment of
Efforts to Predict and Respond to Harmful Algal Blooms in U.S.
Waters</i></u></font><font color="#000000">, (Prediction and Response
Report), was published in the Federal Register on September 27,
2006 for public comment. The Prediction and Response
Report is the first step in a process to develop a coordinated
national research agenda for improving HAB prediction and response,
and input from the research and management community will be
instrumental to create an effective and coordinated
strategy. </font></div>
