They are the Southcoast Terrapin Project (STP) and the Marine Misfit Stranding Program. If interested, please see below.</font></div><div class=""><font size="4" class=""><br class=""></font></div><div class=""><font size="4" class="">Internships typically require a 2-3 month commitment and a 20-30 hour workweek. Interns act as research assistants and are engaged in all phases of a project, from fieldwork to laboratory work.</font></div><div class=""><font size="4" class="">Internship positions are non-paid and can be coordinated privately or through a school or university program. Interns must provide their own transportation to and from work areas and housing is not provided. </font></div><div class=""><font size="4" class=""><br class=""></font></div><div class=""><font size="4" class="">We are also seeking volunteers (of any age) for each of these fall programs or for additional activities. </font></div><div class=""><b class=""><font size="4" class=""><br class=""></font></b></div><div class=""><b class=""><font size="4" class=""><br class=""></font></b></div><div class=""><b class=""><font size="5" class=""><u class="">Southcoast Terrapin Internship Project (STP) - Fall 2023 Season</u></font></b></div><div class=""><font size="4" class=""><br class=""></font></div><div class=""><font size="4" class="">NECWA interns and volunteers work alongside staff members to study and document Northern diamondback terrapin hatchlings in the Pocasset, Wareham (Onset, Buzzards Bay), Marion, and Mattapoisett areas.</font></div><div class=""><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"><font size="4" class="">        </font></span></div><div class=""><font size="4" class=""><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">        </span>Intern activities include:</font></div><blockquote style="margin: 0 0 0 40px; border: none; padding: 0px;" class=""><div class=""><ul class=""><li class=""><font size="4" class="">Collecting hatchling terrapin sighting, biological, and behavioral data at all field sites </font></li><li class=""><font size="4" class="">Collecting environmental data when in the field</font></li><li class=""><font size="4" class="">Office work including, data input and analysis using Microsoft Excel, Adobe PhotoShop, and Google Drive. </font></li><li class=""><font size="4" class="">Learning photo-identification techniques that utilize Adobe Photoshop to process photographic images of individual diamondback terrapins.</font></li><li class=""><font size="4" class="">Participating at festivals and other community outreach events with schools, libraries, and other venues in the New England area.</font></li></ul></div></blockquote><div class=""><font size="4" class=""><br class=""></font></div><div class=""><b class=""><font size="5" class=""><u class="">Marine Misfit Stranding Program - Fall 2023 Season</u></font></b></div><div class=""><font size="4" class="">This Internship focuses on fall and early winter strandings of ocean sunfish, torpedo rays, triggerfish, and other “misfit” marine wildlife that strand along the shores of Cape Cod and surrounding areas. </font></div><div class=""><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;" class=""><font size="4" class="">NECWA also works with government and non-government
organizations to help rescue other marine wildlife, including cetaceans
