<p>Wampanoag Tribe Cultural Connection to Water <br>
</p>
<p>The Falmouth Water Stewards invites the public to a talk by Paula
Peters, a member of the Wampanoag Tribe, about the tribe’s
cultural and historic connection to water.</p>
<p>The talk, called “Water is Life: A Discussion About Our Water
from the Wampanoag Perspective,” is scheduled for Thursday, March
21, at 7:30pm in the Hermann Room at Falmouth Public Library,
Falmouth, MA.</p>
<p>Ms. Peters is the principal consultant and lead writer for
SmokeSygnals, a communications consulting agency.</p>
<p>She served as executive producer of “Our” Story: Captured 1614, a
multi-media traveling exhibition telling the story of 27 Wampanoag
men kidnapped from their villages in 1614. She also served as
executive producer of “Mashpee Nine: A Story of Cultural Justice”
about a 1976 incident in Mashpee.</p>
<p>An award-winning journalist, she also served as marketing and
public relations director at Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth.</p>
<p>The mission of the Falmouth Water Stewards is to protect,
preserve and restore Falmouth’s bays, estuaries, salt ponds and
fresh waters through education, advocacy and citizen science.</p>
<p>The talk is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be
served.</p>
