<p><strong>A Look at Early Migrants: </strong></p>
<p>Learn about why birds migrate and the basics of bird migration on Cape Cod through an indoor lecture then head out onto the trails to search for the first migrants of spring. Led by Wellfleet Bay Naturalist Joel Wagner.<em>

<p><strong>Van Trip to Mashpee Area Hot Spots: </strong> </p>
<p>We'll head to Mashpee to explore South Cape Beach State Park where a barrier beach, salt marshes, and freshwater wetlands and ponds provide a diversity of habitats in which to view lingering winter waterfowl and early returning migrants including piping
plovers and osprey. We'll also check other area hot spots based on the latest sightings including Mashpee Pond and Crane Wildlife Management Area. Led by Wellfleet Bay Naturalist Joel Wagner.

<p><strong>Van Trip to Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary:</strong> </p>
<p>Mass Audubon's Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary is a 578-acre property where miles of trails traverse grasslands, woodlands, and wetlands. We'll check the sanctuary's purple martin colony for the first returnees, scour the fields for recently arrived swallows,
and search the wetlands for wading birds. Mass Audubon's South Shore Sanctuaries' Doug Lowry will join us for an overview of the property and some birding. Led by Wellfleet Bay Naturalist Joel Wagner.

<p><strong>Introduction to Bird Banding </strong> </p>
<p>Bird Banding has been taking place at Wellfleet Bay on and off since 1929. We'll begin with a lecture about the history of banding on the property, banding methods, and what information can be gathered from this research. We'll then head out to the banding
station to meet up with Licensed Master Bander James Junda and the rest of the banding team to see the process in action. Led by Wellfleet Bay Naturalist and Education Coordinator Christine Bates.

<p><strong>Spring </strong><strong>Warblers
</strong></p>
<p>Warblers are the jewels of spring migration. We'll begin with a presentation on identifying the most common spring warblers then head outside to look and listen for colorful spring warblers. Led by Wellfleet Bay Science Coordinator Mark Faherty.

<p><strong>Bird-a-thon Van Trip to Various Location
</strong></p>
<p>Participate in Mass Audubon's annual fundraiser and birding competition. Each year more than 800 birders work with their team members to see, hear, and identify as many bird species as possible in a 24-hour period. We'll travel to birding hotspots to see
how many species we can find at the height of spring migration. Led by Wellfleet Bay Naturalist Joel Wagner.
