Friday, March 2. Graham’s lecture, titled “Visiting Russia over Half a Century,” will be held at 7:30 PM in the MBL’s Lillie Auditorium, 7 MBL Street, Woods Hole. The free series is presented by the
</span><a href="http://www.mbl.edu/associates" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">MBL Associates</span></a><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">
and offered as a cultural connection between the Marine Biological Laboratory and the Cape Cod community. Free parking is available in any MBL lot.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Graham is
</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Professor Emeritus of the History of Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">
and has regularly visited Russia and the USSR over more than 50 years. As an exchange student he studied at Moscow University, and has returned to Russia many times to do research or participate in joint Russian-American projects. His trips there number about
200, some as long as an academic year, others just a few days. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Graham received his Ph.D. in History from Columbia University, and a Doctor of Letters
<i>honoris causa</i> from Purdue University. He specializes in the history and sociology of science, and is considered the leading authority on contemporary science and technology in Russia, outside that country. He is a fellow of the American Association for
the Advancement of Science and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a member of the American Philosophical Society, and a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Natural Science.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Professor Graham has written numerous books (translated in over a dozen languages) and articles on the history of Russian Science.
His <i>Science and Philosophy in the Soviet Union</i> was nominated for the National Book Award. In 1996 he received the George Sarton medal of the History of Science Society, and in 2000 the Follo Award of the Michigan Historical Society for his contributions
to the state's history. In 2012 the Russian Academy of Sciences awarded him a medal for "contributions to the history of science."
