CARE<span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i><span style="font-size:12pt"><span> </span></span></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i>Eastham, MA–</i> On May
10, 2017, Karoo South African Cuisine restaurant Owner and Chef, Sanette Groenewald,
and Manager Kim Willard-Dubois hosted an exquisite 3-course dinner and wine
pairing in honor of WILD CARE INC., a wildlife rehabilitation center located in
Eastham. The dinner generated over $1,600, in support of WILD CARE’S mission of
rehabilitating and releasing sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife. Guests were
treated to an intimate evening filled with traditional South African cuisine, and
wine donated by M.S. Walker Fine Wines and Spirits. A highlight of the evening
was the debut of Wild Care’s new educational ambassador, “Nickerson” the
Eastern Screech Owl. Nickerson has one eye from a tree-felling injury, and is
therefore not releasable into the wild. Wild Care hopes to obtain a permit from
US Fish and Wildlife Service to keep Nickerson as an educational animal,
teaching people about the value Eastern Screech Owls bring to the ecosystem. “We
are so thankful for Sanette’s generosity, and her love of animals”, states WILD
CARE Executive Director, Stephanie Ellis. “WILD CARE is dependent on public donations
and events. We do not receive state, federal, or municipal funding. Wild Care
currently has over 120 animals in our care, and more animals in need of help
are coming through our door on a daily basis. The support provided from the
community, and businesses like Karoo is critically important to our operations,
and we are grateful.” WILD CARE would like to extend a special thanks to Karoo
owner, Sanette Groenewald, Manager Kim Willard-Dubois and their wonderful staff
for hosting this event, and to all joined us for this intimate evening.<span style="font-size:12pt"> To make a donation to Wild Care, visit <a href="http://www.wildcarecapecod.org/donate-today/">http://www.wildcarecapecod.org/donate-today/</a>.<span></span></span></p>
