        <div class="field-item even">The 2017 Sea Grant Aquaculture
          Initiative includes two competitive funding opportunities.
           The Woods Hole Sea Grant Program is responsible for some
          preliminary steps, including determining a <em>maximum of
            three proposals</em> that can be submitted for one of the
          competitions, and gathering and submitting Letters of Intent
          for the other competition.  Please read the Initiative RFPs
          carefully before submitting a Letter of Intent as we will be
          evaluating the letters for the smaller competition as a basis
          for selecting ideas that can be the basis for a maximum of
          three full proposals.

                          <p>This competition is focused on projects
                            that show great promise to increase
                            aquaculture production in the near future by
                            clearly addressing major constraints,
                            barriers, or hurdles limiting United States
                            marine, coastal, and Great Lakes aquaculture
                            production. NOAA Sea Grant expects to have
                            available a total of $10,000,000-$12,000,000
                            between fiscal years 2017, 2018, and 2019
                            for a national initiative <strong>to
                              increase domestic aquaculture production
                              in the short-term (2-4 years).</strong></p>
