2016 Field Guide Training Program
BREWSTER, MA The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster
announces its dates for the 2016 Field Guide Training Program. Six
Regular Tuesday Sessions: March 8, 15, 22, 29; April 5, &12, 2016,
9am-12pm. Three optional afternoon presentations on special topics,
1pm– 2:30 p.m.

If you have a yen to learn about the natural history of Cape Cod,
Wing Island, and the Stony Brook Valley area, and if you enjoy talking
with others and sharing what you’ve learned, then come join a like-minded
group of volunteers and become a volunteer field guide at the Cape Cod
Museum of Natural History, Cape Cod’s Nature Place. Completing the
field guide training program prepares you to serve as a field guide who
can lead school children out on the Museum trails in spring and fall and
lead family walks during summer months.

During the training, veteran CCMNH volunteer field guides and naturalists
will share information about the geology, biology, ecology and human
history of the Wing Island area. New guides will learn how to
convey this information to audiences of all ages in a way that will
create an appreciation of the rich diversity of life in the woodlands,
salt marsh and beach ecosystems and the importance of being stewards of
our natural surroundings. Each training session will include 1 ¼ hours of
discussion and a 1-½ hour instructional walk on Museum trails (i.e.,
appropriate dress is required). Veteran guides are invited to
attend the training to brush up and prepare for the new season.
