The SEA CHANGE Environmental Film and Discussion Series is back and kicks off with the
screening of Bat City, USA and a presentation by Dr. Thomas French of MassWildlife on Saturday,
February 13, 7 p.m. at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater (WHAT).

Bat City, USA, chronicles the story of how one American city essentially went bats over bats! The residents of Austin Texas, the home of a massive roosting colony of Mexican free-tailed bats, were calling for the extermination of
these animals in fear of rabies and other diseases they might carry. World famous bat researcher Merlin Tuttle stepped in and made it his mission to educate about the important role bats play in the environment; through his efforts Austin's residents became
more tolerant of bats and now the city's bat colony has become a major tourist attraction for the past 25 years!

Following the screening, there will be a short presentation on the bats of Cape Cod and Massachusetts by Dr. Thomas French of MassWildlife; and Tom will be joined by Wellfleet Bay's Science Coordinator Mark Faherty for an engaging panel
discussion moderated by Mindy Todd, WCAI's host of "The Point."
