celebrate the creation of new audio work by students at this fall’s <i>Transom Story Workshop</i>. It will be held from 7 – 10 pm on Thursday, November
20th at the Community Hall, 68 Water Street, in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Admission is free. Seating is limited.</p><p class="MsoNormal">The event is sponsored by <a href="http://atlantic.org/">Atlantic Public
Media</a>,
the local non-profit organization that founded our public radio station, <a href="http://capeandislands.org/">WCAI</a>, and created the Peabody Award-winning public
media website <a href="http://www.transom.org">Transom.org</a>, a showcase and
workshop for new public media. </p><p class="MsoNormal">Since late September, nine beginning radio students have been living
in Woods Hole learning the craft of telling stories with sound. This time
students range in age from early 20's to mid 30s, and have traveled to Woods
Hole from various locations in the South, Oregon and Alaska, as well as from as
far afield as Newfoundland and Montreal. The stories they’ve produced focus on
our local area, and we expect some of the people they’ve profiled or talked
with will be in the audience. A question
and answer period will follow each piece.</p><p class="MsoNormal">Of the Graduation Listening Event, Executive Director, Jay Allison
says, “This is becoming a community tradition. Once again, we get to hear new
stories about the place we live, created by these talented students who've been
living and working here for the past two months. They see and hear things with
fresh eyes and ears, and introduce us to neighbors we didn't know we had."</p><p class="MsoNormal">Rob Rosenthal, lead instructor for the <i>Transom Story Workshop</i> says, “It doesn't matter how many times we
do this, I'm always floored at the quality of the stories. The students are so
diligent and they have such high expectations for themselves. You can clearly
hear it. In fact, you can't tell they're new producers because the stories
sounds so professional."</p><p class="MsoNormal">The listening event will precede a brief graduation ceremony and the
public is urged to join us in applauding <i>Transom
Story Workshop’s</i> sixth graduating class. </p><p class="MsoNormal">Public radio producer Jay Allison founded Atlantic Public Media as a
