Neck Barrier Beach is one of the best kept secrets on Cape Cod, packed full of history and magic. We will travel by foot and truck from the base to the tip of this 7-mile-long sandy ecosystem to explore the entire beach overlooking Cape Cod Bay, eat lunch
and enjoy a presentation in the "Halfway House" field station overlooking Barnstable Great Marsh, climb the famous Sandy Neck Lighthouse for a sunset view, and collect cranberries in the natural cranberry swales scattered throughout the dunes.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom:12.0pt"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Through indoor presentations as well as field excursions, we will have ample opportunity to learn about the geologic and natural history of Sandy Neck, including the Osprey population, endangered
Spadefoot Toads, and Diamondback Terrapins. We will also spend time birding on the tidal flats at the tip of Sandy Neck to learn about local bird residents.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
