</b>The earth’s climate has always been in flux and will continue to change in the future. The dynamics of atmospheric and oceanic circulation are driven by many forces, acting at different frequencies, that act in concert. Now, human activities are exerting
pressure on these natural systems on a large scale. In this illustrated presentation, Dr. Jacobson will help us understand how scientists draw from the long-term climate record to predict what the future may bring.<b><o:p></o:p></b></span></p>

<span style="font-size:12.0pt">George L. Jacobson is <i>Professor Emeritus</i> of Biology, Ecology, and Climate Change at the University of Maine. Since his arrival in Maine in 1979, Dr. Jacobson has been a member of the Climate Change Institute, and he was
Director of the Institute for nearly a decade. During the past 30 years, he has served the university and the State of Maine in many ways, including leading a successful campaign to expand greatly the support for research and development activities.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
