Panelists from around the globe,
including Norway, United Kingdom, France, The Netherlands, Germany,
Canada, and the United States, will discuss topics including how does
marine spatial planning affect economic, ecological, and regulatory
issues as well as options for structuring the governance system,
integrating science and local knowledge in the planning and analysis
process, and bridging the gap between planning and the implementation of
a marine spatial plan. A summary of the Symposium will be prepared for
wide distribution. This event builds on the success of the Marine
Planning International Workshop, hosted by the Marine Management
Organisation (UK) in February 2011.

For more information, please visit
http://seagrant.gso.uri.edu/baird/2012_marineplanning/2012_marineplanning.html.

*SPONSORS:*

Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation <http://www.moore.org/>
RI Coastal Resources Management Council <http://www.crmc.ri.gov/>
Bureau of Ocean Energy Management <http://www.boem.gov/>
<http://www.crmc.ri.gov/>URI Coastal Resources Center
<http://www.crc.uri.edu/>
Rhode Island Sea Grant College Program <http://seagrant.gso.uri.edu/>
The Nature Conservancy
<http://www.nature.org/ourinitiatives/regions/northamerica/unitedstates/rhodeisland/index.htm>
The Ocean Conservancy <http://www.oceanconservancy.org/>
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration <http://www.noaa.gov/>
The University of Rhode Island<http://www.uri.edu/>
