<div><font><i>Stipend:</i> $800</font></div><div><font><br></font></div><p class="MsoNormal"><font><b>About the Internship</b></font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><font>Over the course of a four-week program, interns will work collaboratively to investigate the intertidal zone in the Boston Harbor Islands. The student work is part of an ongoing ecological assessment and non-native species monitoring effort conducted by MIT Sea Grant in collaboration with the Boston Harbor Islands National Parks Service.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font> </font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><font>Students will gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of marine ecology. Interns may also have the opportunity to work with engineers, biologists and/or policy experts who design, build and utilize autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font> </font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><font><b>Who Should Apply</b></font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><font>Successful applicants will:</font></p><ul type="circle"><li class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:15px">
<font>Be students who are entering their junior or senior year of high school, or students who will be entering college in the fall</font></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:15px"><font>Be responsible, investigative thinkers</font></li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:15px"><font>Have a strong interest in, or currently be pursuing, studies in ocean science</font></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:15px"><font>Be at least 16 years old by program start date (July 2, 2012)</font></li>
