<p>MIT <span class="il">Sea</span> Grant College Program is now accepting <a href="http://seagrant.mit.edu/SPI_Application_2011.pdf" target="_blank">applications</a> from New England teachers for the <span class="il">Sea</span> <span class="il">Perch</span> <span class="il">Institute</span> 2011-2012 school year. <a href="http://seagrant.mit.edu/spi.php" target="_blank"><span class="il">Sea</span> <span class="il">Perch</span> <span class="il">Institute</span></a>
is an innovative, yearlong teacher training course and a project-based,
hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
program experience for students of those teachers. Under the mentorship of MIT <span class="il">Sea</span> Grant educators
and engineers, teachers work with their students to design, prototype,
and implement a solution to a directed ocean engineering challenge. At
the end of the school year, teams are invited to the MIT campus for the
