Despite the discovery of their importance for medical treatment and as a food source for migrating birds, horseshoe crab populations decline. Dr. Dan Gibson will elucidate this sometimes sordid, sometimes hopeful history in a presentation <b>April 16, 5:30 p.m. at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.</b> The event is <b>free</b> and open to the public.<span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Also chronicling the evolution of the history and politics related to horseshoe crabs is the art exhibit the “Ancient Mariner” by Chatham artist Louise Russell. In 1995, Russell created this series of drawings and montages to tell the story of <i>Limulus polyphemus </i>and her art work has created awareness and attention to this living fossil.
