Whalen. We’ll explore the history of Native American use of local rivers
for trade. The concept of watersheds will be discussed, as the trip
starts in one watershed going upriver to a region of interconnected ponds
and lakes, then downriver through a different watershed. The impact
of more recent human use of the land adjacent to the rivers (bridges,
dams, bogs, farms) will be another topic. Finally, planning,
preparation, and dealing with changes to a plan as the journey progresses
will be discussed.
