Dartmouth as he discusses his work with the American Eel. Dr. Oliveira
describes the American Eel as "an ecologically and commercially important
species" possessing "an amazing life history with many unique adaptations" that
make it a historically successful species.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>The American Eel spawns in secret locations within the Sargasso Sea, a
process that has never been observed.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">

research associate, Dr. Whitney Habel, a develop-mental biologist, successfully
hatched American Eels in their laboratories at the University in Dartmouth.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>This represents a first for scientists
long puzzled by the reproductive processes of the animals.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>While larval eels are found in the
Sargasso Sea, adult eels have never been seen there.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Dr. Oliveira will discuss the life
history and current research of this fascinating fish.</FONT></SPAN></P>

advocate, global economist and renowned author John Perkins speak about the most
pressing issues of our times: preserving the natural world and shunning the
kinds of unchecked capitalism that trades humanitarian and environmental ruin
for ruthless financial gain. <BR><BR>Perkins speaks out about the
British Petroleum’s Gulf oil spill and how it is an indicator of how
unsustainable our unrelenting pursuit of oil is today. It is a wakeup call that
we are finally hearing because it is close to home, though other people around
the globe have experienced similar devastation for the sake of fossil fuel and
oil industry profits. Meet John Perkins and hear him speak about how his
vision of “a new priority: a sustainable and just economy” can take shape and
requires the thoughtful actions of every individual.<BR><BR>Perkins<STRONG> will
